FileStar is a Web 3.0 Decentralized Storage, Verifiable Computation, and Measurable Bandwidth Network Infrastructure.

About FileStar

Founded by the Minsk team in 2020, FileStar has an active open source developer community that contributes to an ever-growing code base. FileStar has implemented a more reasonable distributed storage incentive mechanism based on Filecoin through technological innovations, refined design for economic model and governance mechanism, and has gradually evolved from distributed storage to distributed Internet incentive layer. FileStar will realize the optimal use of computing, bandwidth, and storage resources, and eventually become the physical world infrastructure for building Web3.0.

Reduced the entry barriers for mining

Cancel initial pledge collateral, cancel dependence on AMD CPUs with SHA256 extensions, and encourage more miners to contribute to the network.

Fair and reasonable token distribution

No pre-mining, no fundraising, most tokens are produced by mining, and all participants in the ecosystem are provided with refined long-term incentives to ensure the development of the system.

Higher scalability

By modifying the random check logic of WindowPoST, introducing recursive storage proof technology, etc. improve the network’s capability of processing messages, and the TPS is improved.

Efficient use of resources

Efficient mining software improves the overall network efficiency for sealing and data retrieval. Using "hot data" and "warm data", users can quickly read the stored data.

Community-Led Economic Model and Governance Mechanism

Refined Token Incentive Model and Decentralized Governance to Promote Long Term Eco-System Evolution

More flexible pledge rules

Cancel initial pledge collateral, only have block reward as collateral. Allow a shorter life cycle for sectors without quality data. Deal sectors need pledge as collateral.

Fair distributed token economic model

FileStar has no pre-mine or fund-raising. 70% of the total supply will be minted by miners. 15% will be reserved for the team, which will be locked until a year after launch, and then will be unlocked linearly over five years. The remaining tokens will provide incentives for other eco-system participants.

Decentralized governance mechanism

FileStar utilizes decentralized governance led by the community. Anyone can submit code to the protocol. Developers, miners, and clients can vote to determine the future development path for the project.

Newly Upgraded Algorithm

As the first step of the distributed incentive network based on IPFS protocol, FileStar will deploy multiple technology innovations and improvements.

New hash algorithm

FileStar will test multiple hash algorithms, including SHA512, Poseidon, Pederson, and BLAKE2s, which will support both Intel and other high-performance CPU mining architectures.

Recursive zk-SNARK technology

FileStar proposes a recursive zk-SNARK technology to reduce messages for submitting proofs. FileStar will realize a higher TPS with a more scalable network.

WindowPoST + VRF

FileStar introduces a random check mechanism in WindowPoST and adopts VRF (Verifiable Random Function) to further improve the security of the random check.

Highly efficient mining software

FileStar will optimize open-source mining software to fully improve mining efficiency, which will maximize the computing and storage capability of miners.

FileStar Roadmap

FileStar Future Technology Development Roadmap

October 2020

Release the first draft of the white paper

November 2020

Release the first version of FileStar code, implement Filecoin-based improvements, remove pledge collateral, and fix multiple bugs in Filecoin.

February 2021

Realize most of the content in the white paper, including the new Hash algorithm, recursive zk-SNARK, off-chain message aggregation, and introducing random check Window PoST+VRF, etc.

August 2021

Launch a verifiable computing network, incentivizing some of FileStar's miners to switch to a verifiable computing network.

December 2021

Introduce a measurable bandwidth network, encouraging some of FileStar's miners to switch to the measurable bandwidth network.

Warning: STAR token exists in the only format circulating in the FileStar network, and all addresses begin with f. There are currently no other formats of STAR tokens including ERC-20. STAR can only be traded on WhaleEx and Gate.io in the near future, and is currently not listed on any other decentralized exchanges.
